A Little About Me

Welcome to Pendleton Designs! This is where I will be posting all of my artwork and most of my contact information. Before delving into the artwork, let me introduce myself first. Hello! My name is Pendleton Trey Hampton, but you can call me Trey. I am currently twenty-one years old and a Graphic Designer at Liberty University. Wondering why I chose graphic design? I’ll answer with a brief history.

Ever since I can remember, I have been watching animated things. I absolutely loved them. From rubber hose cartoons like Mickey Mouse to fast-paced anime like One Punch Man. That love for animation bled into my personal life as well. I enjoyed sketching video game characters everywhere, from notebooks to napkins at restaurants. I was not good at what I drew at that time, but then again, what eight-year-old is? Despite that, the heart was there. I had a passion for creating imaginative images and presenting them to my friends. In that time, I also found a passion for YouTubers who specialized in animation. I had never seen something like that at that time before!

Watching others bring their characters to life inspired me to create images of my friends as superheroes. Over time, I revamped my self-insert character, making him cooler. Eventually, I grew to love the character, Shiverburn. During middle and high school, I created continuous comics with an interconnected plot, new characters, engaging villains, witty humor, and noticeable artistic improvement. I created nearly 20 comics and dreamed of turning Shiverburn into an online animated series for everyone to enjoy. My dream at that time was to major in animation at whatever school God had in mind for me.

In my time looking for a college to attend, I had my eyes on VCU. I figured, if my mom was a graduate from there, it would be so cool to follow in her footsteps! When I told her that, she was a bit disappointed because she knew that VCU is not what it used to be. Mom suggested that I apply to Liberty University because of the beautiful campus and the Christian environment. I agreed and decided to go visit for College for a Weekend.

I absolutely loved it! It was just like Mom described, and even more. When looking for ideas on what to major in though, I was heartbroken to find out, Liberty did not have an animation degree. They suggested Graphic Design, and I decided to go with that! That was the best decision of my life. I have absolutely fallen in love with this degree and what I can do with it. I’m learning new things every day and teaching myself a few tips to stay on my toes.

Graphic Design has been a part of my life before I even realized that it was! Who would have thought that I could make a career out of something that I did while passing time in the back of class.
